CO2 laser marking machines, also known as gas laser marking machines, produce a wavelength of 10.6µm. CO2 lasers have relatively high power and electro-optical conversion efficiency. CO2 gas is filled into a discharge tube as the medium for laser generation. When a high voltage is applied to the electrodes, a glow discharge is generated in the discharge tube, causing the gas molecules to release laser light. This laser energy is amplified to form a laser beam that processes the material. A computer-controlled galvanometer then changes the laser beam’s coordinates to achieve marking. The laser beam illuminates the material surface, converting light energy into heat energy, which instantly vaporizes the surface and forms a mark.
